The more I get into this training, the more I enjoy this fun techno stuff we are learning about!
I think I am going to end up getting hooked to blogs in my spare time.
I did do a search for Cleveland, Ohio (used to live there) and found some great pictures of this industrial-motif burg. Check them out at http://www.flickr.com/search/?q=cleveland
That's it for now.

The more I get into the blog and RSS feed world, the more intrigued I am. I knew there was lots of information out there on the Internet, but this is amazing!
I wasn't really crazy about Topix.net. I kind of like to search for stuff instead of browsing, and this seemed to be a better site for browsing.
I totally love Technorati. I tried a search for library marketing and found more than 400 results. Granted not all of these results were what I was interested in, but there's so much to choose from.
I think RSS feeds are one solution to information overload. They truly allow you to cut through to information.

My RSS Subscriptions
Oh, by the way, if you want to check out which RSS feeds I subscribe to, go to

RSS feeds!
Wow! My brain is chock full. I think I have just mastered the magic of RSS feeds. I've seen these mysterious feeds and even tried to read about them before, but haven't really ever gotten in depth enough to understand or even use them.
I do look at blogs in my spare time, so outside of work I am definitely going to use the RSS feed thing in my home life. I'm interested in advertising and marketing (which does, believe it or not, have a lot to do with librarianship), and I am going to use the RSS gizmo to subscribe to some of the advertising blogs I use.
Cool! On to the next exercise.

Lifelong Learning
Just took the first step in a training series to learn how to use technology as a librarian. Part of that was going through a "lifelong learning" tutorial.
SO....as a lifelong learner, I think my easiest thing to do will be to set goals. I tend to be a pretty goal-oriented person as it is, so I don't anticipate any challenges in that department.
I think my toughest part of life-long learning will be, surprisingly enough, teaching what I learn to others. I hadn't really thought of a self-study gig to involve active teaching. Makes sense, though. What goes around, comes around. You have to give to receive.
Think I'm ready to move on to the next part of this tutorial.

Hello Techno World
Well, I'm a librarian learning how to use blogs, RSS feed, and other techie things, in order to better serve my customers in this oh-so-techno world.
Testing 1-2-3, I think I have just finished creating this blog. Painless so far...
